Banish Cellulite with Cryotherapy

If you struggle with stubborn cellulite don’t worry, you’re not alone. Over 80% of women suffer from cellulite, and getting rid of it has been an impossible task… until now!

Every year, women spend millions on lotions, potions, mitts, massagers, body wraps, muscle belts and even rubber pants in the fight against cellulite. However, none of these magical cures has actually proven themselves useful in the slightest.

But don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you can now fight those annoying little dimples with Cryotherapy!

What is cellulite and how can Cryotherapy help?

Even though almost every woman you pass in the street will have cellulite somewhere on their body, not many people actually know what it is or what causes it. Those unwanted little bumps and dimples are actually caused thanks to a breakdown of collagen in the skin. Collagen is a connective tissue that keeps your skin looking smooth, elastic and young. However, when it breaks down, the skin becomes looser in some areas and tighter in others, causing that uneven skin texture we have all grown to hate.

Now, there’s good news and bad news about Collagen… The bad news is that we can’t do anything about it breaking down. Thanks to either genetics or age, collagen will ultimately break down no matter what you do, and there’s actually been no way to increase collagen in the skin (or anywhere else in the body for that matter). The good news? Whole Body Cryotherapy has been proven to not only repair the broken collagen connections in the skin but to also promote collagen production throughout the body!

The below-freezing temperatures the body is subjected to while in a Cryochamber causes the production of collagen, and in turn, gives back the skin’s elasticity and youthful smoothness, ultimately reducing cellulite. As an added bonus, collagen is also found in tendons, ligaments, bones, blood vessels, teeth and even your gastrointestinal tract, so full body cryotherapy can make your whole body stronger, more mobile and more youthful.

Another thing that can make cellulite appear more vividly is a thick underlying layer of fat. The more fatty tissue you have under the layer of skin showing cellulite, the more those pesky little dimples will show. Fortunately for us, Whole Body Cryotherapy also helps to reduce these fat deposits. Fat cells like these are completely intolerant to the cold. So, when you undergo 3 minutes of Cryotherapy, some of these cells can undergo apoptosis, effectively, cell suicide. The contents of these fat cells are then removed from the body through the lymphatic system, helping to reduce the visibility of cellulite.

Breaking News! Cryotherapy Can Improve Brain Function

By now, we’ve all heard about the amazing benefits of using Cryotherapy to treat inflammation, swelling and acute pain. We also all know about the countless benefits to your overall health, such as aided weight loss, increased energy, anti-aging, and quickened recovery times after surgery or injury. However, one benefit of Whole Body Cryotherapy we don’t talk much about is probably the most impressive… increased brain function!

Can the cold boost my brain?

Thanks to the wondrous process of the hibernation of bears, scientists have discovered that Whole Body Cryotherapy can actually aid in NeuroRegeneration. All neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Huntington’s, are caused by a progressive loss of the function or structure of synapses, known as NeuroDegeneration. So, in theory, if someone was able to regenerate these synapses, they could not only increase the productivity of the brain on a daily level, but they could also reverse the effects of these NeuroDegenerative diseases.

So, where do the bears come in I hear you ask… Well, during hibernation, bears are able to basically ‘shut-down’ their brains in order to conserve as much energy as possible during the cold months. By studying the waking process of these bears, scientists found that after hibernation, bears were able to instantly switch back on their brains in a sort of ‘reboot’ process. They were able to do this because the extreme cold produced special proteins called Cold Shock Proteins. When the bear begins to warm up, these proteins are released in extremely high numbers, and one specific protein caught the scientists attention, RMB-3. This specific protein was able to switch back on not some, but 100% of all synapses and connections in the bear’s brain!

After this amazing discovery, scientists began testing the RMB-3 theory on other animals, putting them through the freezing and rewarming process. Their findings? Every single one of the animals tested showed a release of the RBM-3 protein and subsequently an increase in synapse activity and brain function.

Now, do you want to know the best part? Humans also have this magical RMB-3 protein, and it can be coaxed into production by Whole Body Cryotherapy! Basically, using Whole Body Cryotherapy regularly will promote synaptic plasticity and reboot connections that have been out between the nerves in your brain, prevent NeuroDegeneration and the diseases associated with it.

Not only is this huge news for people already suffering from a neurological disease, but it’s also of huge benefit for people simply looking to improve their brain function on a daily basis. People who use Cryotherapy 3 times a week have reported an increase in productivity, concentration, mental clarity and even stress levels. Some clients have even come on leaps and bounds in their life goals, be it fitness, career, relationships or lifestyle. All because their brain is now functioning at a higher level and in a more clear and concise manner.

If you feel like you need a bit of a brain boost, or if you’re looking for a new way to aid in the control of a NeuroDegenerative disease, then don’t hesitate to contact us HERE, or book your first Whole Body Cryotherapy appointment HERE.

Is Whole Body Cryotherapy Really Safe?

Whole Body Cryotherapy was developed in 1978 and is now recognised and covered by most health insurance companies around the world. Star athletes and celebrities both use this chilly treatment as a way to reduce inflammation, reduce pain and swelling, promote healing of injuries and even to help with anti-ageing and weight loss!

However, as Cryotherapy got more popular, it has gained a lot of attention from both the medical community and sceptics regarding its safety. Many people are now asking, “is Whole Body Cryotherapy Really Safe?”

Is Cryotherapy safe?

One of the main concerns about Whole Body Cryotherapy is the freezing cold temperatures. People often confuse this treatment with ice baths and think that their body will simply freeze. However, the two treatments couldn’t be more different. Unlike ice baths, Whole Body Cryotherapy only lowers the temperature of the skin’s surface, not your body’s core temperature. This results in increased blood flow, increased oxygen and also reduced inflammation. Basically, this means that there is no chance of getting frostbite or chill burns from Whole Body Cryotherapy.

During your whole treatment, vaporised nitrogen air is passed over your skin’s surface, which is not only dry but is completely harmless to your skin. Many people fear that the nitrogen is dangerous and that it will cause you to pass out, however, if performed by a licensed Cryotherapy specialist, during Whole Body Cryotherapy this will never happen. Nitrogen is not only non-toxic, but it makes up 78% of the air we breathe every second of every day. Plus, during your entire treatment, your head remains out of the Cryotherapy chamber, so you will be able to breathe room temperature air the entire time.

Having said all of this, there are some people who just aren’t suited to Cryotherapy. Individuals that have health issues sensitive to blood flow such as hypertension, heart disease, anaemia or seizures are advised to steer clear of this icy treatment. Pregnant women and people with systemic issues such as diabetes should also reconsider trying Whole Body Cryotherapy.

What are the safety measures used?

When you go to a professional and fully licensed Cryotherapy facility, you should have absolutely nothing to worry about regarding the safety of Cryotherapy. Before you even step into the CryoChamber room, a licensed technician will perform a full health screening to ensure you have no underlying health issues and that you know exactly what will happen during your Cryotherapy treatment.

After your assessment, you will then be given protective gloves and slippers to ensure your extremities don’t get too chilly during the Cryotherapy treatment. Your technician will stay with you throughout the entire process, monitoring oxygen levels, the time you’ve been inside the chamber, and of course, how you’re feeling. If at any point you become claustrophobic or wish to exit the CryoChamber, the door pushes open easily, and your technician will be there to help with anything you may need.

Under no circumstances should you stay in a Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber for more than two or three minutes, this is to ensure that only your skin’s surface temperature drops to freezing and not your body’s core temperature. This will ensure that no adverse effects will happen to your health during or after the treatment.

Here at Polar Bare Club Cryotherapy, we use one of the safest Cryotherapy chambers in the world. Your Cryotherapy Questions Answered!

As Cryotherapy is still widely unknown amongst the general public, it’s normal that you will have a few questions. Many people are hearing amazing things about Cryotherapy and wish to book their first treatment, but a few niggling thoughts and questions are holding them back.

Well, that’s why we’ve created this FAQ, to give you the answers to all the questions you may have.

Once you step into the Cryosauna, 100% safe cryogenic Nitrogen vapour will be passed over the skin. This lowers the surface skin temperature by around 30-50 degrees in under 3 minutes. This drastic change sends a signal to your brain which causes it to stimulate your body’s regulatory functions. Your central nervous system is boosted, anti-inflammatory molecules and endorphins are released, the amount of blood carried in your red blood cells increases and your body purges toxins.

Absolutely! Nitrogen is non-toxic and makes up 78% of the air we breathe every single day. While in the Cryosauna your head is completely outside, so you will feel free and be able to breathe the room-temperature air during the process. You will also be provided with protective gloves socks and slippers to keep your fingers and toes warm during the process.

Of course, it’s completely safe to exercise both before and after. In some cases, it’s actually recommended by your Cryotherapy attendant to do some light exercise after your treatment to help your skin warm up faster. Exercising before your whole body Cryotherapy treatment you will experience a quicker recovery thanks to the anti-inflammatory response, and increased energy.

Every client will experience a high release of endorphins after each treatment which is a hormone that gives you energy and makes you feel happy. People suffering from inflammation or pain will feel relief almost immediately. The effects of each full body Cryotherapy will last 6-8 hours after treatment. Many clients also experience a metabolic rate increase and can be expected to burn 500-800 calories the day of their treatment.

During your Cryotherapy treatment, your body isn’t actually being frozen, it’s simply been given the feeling of being cold. The air passed over your skin is completely dry and safe, and will only lower the temperature of the skin’s surface. However, if at any moment you wish to step out of the Cryosauna you are free to do so and your experienced attendant will be there to help.

No! Ice baths can last up to 20 minutes, are extremely painful and can ultimately damage the skin. Cryotherapy is a completely dry process, so the skin is never penetrated by the cold. Cryotherapy also only lasts up to 3 minutes and the effects are much greater. Cryotherapy will actually improve your skin’s condition over time and will reduce inflammation much quicker than an ice bath.

Although full body Cryotherapy is completely safe, as with any treatments, there are some cases where it is advisable not to undergo the process. It’s advisable not to enter a Cryosauna if you are pregnant, have severe hypertension, arrhythmia, unstable angina pectoris, recent or acute myocardial infarction, a cardiac pacemaker, cardiovascular disease, venous thrombosis, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, recent or highly acute cerebrovascular accident, uncontrollable seizures, a fever, tutor disease, severe anemia, symptomatic lung disorder, a recent infection, cold allergies, are under 18 years old without parental consent, or have an acute kidney or urinary tract disease.
